This Aspen Buckeye Burl Combination Pen can be used as a roller ball or a fountain pen. Both nibs and ink systems come with your order. The pen is shipped with the roller ball mechanism installed. However, you can convert it into a fountain pen easily with the enclosed fountain pen medium nib and cartridge ink system. As an option you can order a piston cartridge ink converter for $5.00. This allows you to use bottled ink. We, however, recommend using both cartridge and piston systems because the cartridge is more convenient for travel refills.
